Lurae B. Stuart
Senior Program Manager, Bus Technical Programs, APTA
Lurae Stuart is the Senior Program Manager, Bus Technical Programs at the American Public Transportation Association, an association for public transit. Ms. Stuart is responsible for all bus related technology, maintenance and propulsion programs at APTA including committees, technical sessions for APTA conferences, the International Bus Roadeo, bus displays, the Bus Maintenance, Technology and Procurement Workshop and the Bus Standards Program. In addition, Ms. Stuart oversees APTA’s standards development program which has development efforts in bus, rail, commuter rail, ITS, security, procurement and fare collection technology. These standards efforts are consensus based with input from business, federal government and transit.
Ms. Stuart has over 20 years of experience in the transit industry. Prior to joining APTA in 2001, Lurae worked for 17 years at the Tri-County Metropolitan Transit District of Oregon (TriMet) in Portland, OR holding positions in procurement and fleet maintenance.
Ms. Stuart is currently Chair of SAE’s Bus Engineering Committee and a member of the SAE Truck and Bus Council and Cooling committee.
Born, raised, and educated in the Portland, Oregon area Ms. Stuart has a degree in Psychology & Sociology from George Fox University. Ms. Stuart has six children, three in college, and currently lives in Rockville, Maryland.
