  Dr. Takamitsu Sawa

Director, Institute of Economic Research, Kyoto University

Dr. Sawa has been the Director of the Kyoto Institute of Economic Research at Kyoto University since 1990 with a three-year intermission.

He has been the President of the Society of Environmental Economics and Policy Studies. He was a Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Illinois from 1975 to1978.

In addition, he has been a member of the Central Environmental Council and the Transportation Policy Council. Dr. Sawa’s field includes econometrics and energy-environmental economics. He was nominated as a Fellow of the Econometric Society in 1967. He has published many articles both in English and Japanese not only in professional journals but also in commercial journals and newspapers.
He has also published more than 60 books including translations and editions.

He earned his PhD degree in Economics from the University of Tokyo in 1970.
