His research topics are mainly energy and environmental economics and he has evaluated the feasibility of some new energy technologies quantitatively. Space energy utilization is also one of his topics. He is involved and participates in two commissions concerning space energy utilization with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
