Kenji Nagamatsu
Senior Representative, Japan International Transport Institute
Kenji Nagamatsu is the Senior Representative of the Japan International Transport Institute. Mr. Nagamatsu joined the Ministry of Transport in 1984 and served in various positions in the Japanese government including Director of the Road Transport Department of the Kyusyu District Transport Bureau. When he was in that position, he established a forum to promote the introduction of environmentally-friendly trucks to the Kyusyu district and also worked with trucking companies to establish a joint cargo delivery system which aimed at reducing traffic congestion and emissions in Kumamoto city.
As Deputy Director of the Cargo Transport Policy Division, he was a key participant in drafting the "Comprehensive Program of Logistics Policies," the first program regarding logistics policies formally approved by the Japanese Cabinet in 1998, which called for the development of a more sophisticated logistics system.
